Spyware

Got up saturday morning very early intending to play steal and ox all day. Much to my surprise i kept getting weird popup ads about security and my desktop background had been taken over by a security warning. I ran adaware , spybot, antivrus and a few other cleanup programs but nothing would remove it. The spyware had names like smitfraud, virtumonde and outerinfo.

After running those removal programs all morning i got fed up, dug thru my junk til i found my restore CD's and wiped everything and reformatted back to the settings the pc had when i got it. That was more fun than you can imagine. It took the rest of the day Saturday and a good chunk of today to get the PC back to where i wanted it. On the bright side it runs quite a bit faster.

Things are going great at the steal league. New players come in every week and some old timers too. Glad to see them all. Check every day for tourneys they wont always be on the front page.

I dont understand why people want to hide behind names no one knows. If you want to blast me on this blog you leave a name that everyone knows or it will be removed. Well i see that Monkey boy and his little dogs made it in to a couple of tourneys last night. I hope someone cleaned the monkey poop off of the walls and the skank fluids off of the floor before they gave the room back . Probably no way to get rid of the smell tho.

Reminders.... I am trying most nights to host straight steal at seven pm. Wordsteal ladder room. Hope you can all join us. Synergy league at hoyle has tourneys most nights at 11 and midnight for the late owls. Wish i could be there but i leave the house for work about 4-430 am for work and being that i am old i need my sleep.

Today a former league member came in to steal ladder room and proceeded to bitch about the removal of a td about a week ago. This player also was giving a current td a hard time in the rated room. He demanded an explanation. The more i think about this the more it pisses me off. You dont go to any league admin anywhere and demand a damn thing if you arent on their ladder . Even then you might try asking nicely. Its really none of your effin business what a myleague does or doesnt do. If another leagues admins want to exchange info , hey thats cool. If you are a friend and want the downlow ,hey thats cool. Anyone else can bugger off :-)

HollyPeenyo ..... Hey Pard i miss the tourneys and all the destruction we were responsible for. It was fun even when we had the rare loss because then i got to make up funny excuses for why we lost a match. Lmao when i wrote some of them i could puicture Dorcas fuming in rage when she read them.

BrianSmallacombe... If not many of you know this guy, he plays at hoyle on the FSW cases ladder. He is what i consider a methodical player. If you arent very careful before you know it he has whipped your ass and you are left sitting wondering what the hell just happened.

A few resolutions and the 2007 Big Balls Awards

Happy New Year to anyone that reads this blog and those who might accidentally stumble over it while surfing. Last year was a decent year, i did a lot of great fishing and camping with my daughter and wife , got drunk and started a league at wordsteal one night , and did some other crazy stuff that doesnt need to be gone over lol. For 2008 i just have a few resolutions...

1. Cut down on the drinking binges on the weekends if for no other reason my health.

2. Become a better player. while that is fresh in your mind let me just say that no matter who you are and how good you are sometimes the tile fairy is going to take a dump on you and there isnt anything you can do about it ;-)

3. Get more exercise... again health

4. Coninue finding new and fun things and places to share with C.J. and Cyndi.

Now that thats out of the way lets move on to the awards. Before i start though let me say that if anyone wants to add to the list email me and i will give it front page attention.

Admin of the year...... TheMummykins at Interleague. Mummy is crapped on week in and week out by T.D.s and leagues that are supposed to be supporting her yet she continues to persevere and keep Interleague going. If the people that arent supporting her but should be are offended by that, good!! Mummy ya got balls!!

T.D. of the year....... Lainy at FSW in the hoyle cases ladder room. Wow This lady is the IronTD of wordox, she is at this writing only 7 tourneys away from # 2500 personally hosted by her!! Can we get a Holy Shit chant going for Lainy??? WTG Lainy!! you got balls!!

Player of the year..... Me!! Kes/Perrin After thinking a lot on this one im gonna toot my own horn , toot toot. Wherever i go to play, whichever of the 2 names i use, i come to win. I will ladder with anyone that asks or anyone who knocks on the door whatever room im in and i dont back down from man or machine. Wtg me !! I got balls!! (save the sarcastic comments for someone who cares :-) lol i don't)

Most improved player/s of the year. I have to give props to 2 players this year , First is Just_Fancy aka Pammiek . She has cranked out multiple wins on me, Dorcas and Wordman this year and i dont care what anyone else says she has come a long way. Sharing this award with her is Debbers at wordsteal , she is new to the game but she gives it her best every time, In 2008 i expect to see her crack the top10 at steal. Wtg PammieK and Debbers ya both got balls!!

Best new TD/s... Redberry SneakyPete Bambiella and OxtailSoup. You ladies have taken to tding like wildfire, i appreciate everything you 4 have done to make our league grow , and all the tourneys you have hosted. WTG , all 4 of ya got balls!!

Now for a little fun

The His Bark is worse than his Bite award goes to OldShep.... After the few email communications we had I understand shep a little better. He is like most players , he comes in to relax and get away from stress. Wtg Shep, ya got balls!!

The Failure to Communicate/CoolHandLuke Award goes to Wordman50. After his clash at Extremeox and his initial post in response to his critics he decided to let the rest go drop the matter and ignore his detractors . Wtg Richard , ya got balls!!

RudeSkank of the year award goes to Ceedie. Normally i wouldnt concern myself about this but... When a td takes time out of their personal life to host a tourney, if you join that tourney and the TD puts aside personal differences and congratulates you on individual wins and on winning the tourney if you do, the least a player could do if he/ she is gonna skank up my tourney is thank me for hosting. My opinion of course may not be everyones but im the writer here so its what you get.... WTG Ceedie you smell like balls.

Once again if anyone has anything they want to add to this like categories they want to award on or resolutions they have or award categories they want me to comment on just shoot me an email, i will post just about anything for anyone.

As for me and i speak only for me here , I truly do not mind losing to what you call a lesser player. I find that in most cases it ramps up their confidence, usually (hopefully) they are thinking Hey!! i beat this s.ob. once i can do it again. That makes it a more competitive game and a better experience for both of us. However i do hate like hell to lose to players that are my equal or better skillwise such as Wordman ,Dorcas etc and there are quite a few in the etc category. Thats just my competitive nature kicking in. Ok Moving on......

I hate to disagree with you Shep but i think you had a beef about playing me that evening admit it or not. Otherwise why would you not go ahead and play me and take up the situation later with a td manager or ladder op instead of letting me take the moral high road by giving you a free win? Instead you bullied the td . How you ask ? You knew it was too late for her to change the pairs yet you caused a scene in the lobby , refused to play the match and threatened to report her if she posted the win to me. I hope you felt good about it.

Now for the last bit "By the way, as an aside to your little remark about thumping my fat head ........ I didn't get to do CP work with the Dubai Royal Family for 3 years by not being able to look after myself :o)))) " Great !! If i ever meet you i wont feel bad about thumping you ;-)

Rank Hounds / Leapfroggers

I Have been asked to post about the above mentioned subjects so i will start by putting up what the rules say about it.

Rank Hounding: Players in the Top Ten are expected to be as active after they reach the top ranks as they were before. In other words, if you are playing 20 games a day to make it to the Top Ten and then only play once a week to hold your rank you may be penalized.

Leapfrogging: Players in the Top Ten should try to play the person ranked directly below them at least once every three days. If you are found to be avoiding challenges that put your rank at risk your account will be penalized.

on the first an example would be , if you are the # 2 player on your ladder and you play every day and capture the # 1 spot then disappear for a couple of days or avoid laddermatches or tourneys with the former #1 playing that in my opinion is rank hounding. On leapfrogging... If you play on a regular basis and enter tourneys on the ladders then there should be no problem. If you capture the # 1 spot just playing in tourneys on a ladder that is active with laddergames i think you should make more effort to be there for tourneys until you are beaten if you dont intend to offer laddergames in the room in which the ladder plays. If you want a shot at #1 usually all you have to do is ask for a ladderset or enter tourneys the # 1 player is in. Most players will be happy to play you. If you get turned down for a set then go to your ladders website and click the rules link. There you will find out the steps to take. You can also contact the league admins for help. Steal up and Down / more

Wordsteal was up for awhile yesterday, we managed to get in 1 tourney. I went on to bed expecting the best today and found out that its down again :-( Such is life.

At hoyle yesterday morning in soc room 1 i was looking at some of the player profiles and saw this quote.... There aint no cure for fat bitch!!!! rotflmao that player sure hit the nail on the head. I can think of a couple of people that sure fit the bill for that little quote ;-) Ran across at least 1 yesterday.

I hope Mark gets steal up and running again today. The graphics may not be hoyle quality but i miss the new dictionary. If it doesnt come up i will look to ladder at hoyle today. Cya at the tables

OxWorld

Ok after the stuff thats gone on the past few days i promised that im going to go in a different direction. I will still post front page stuff for anyone and anonymous comments are allowed once again within reason.

Lets take a look at the leagues and ladders i play on. First oput of the gate is http://www.myleague.com/wordsteal/ which i created am the head admin for and play at the site www.myleague.com/wordsteal in the ladder roo0m when its up. Our current #1 is me and we have a very active group for the most part. Right now our site is down so some of us are meeting at hoyle.

At hoyle we play in the comp room which is owned by one of my favorite leagues http://www.myleague.com/_synergy/ Some of the best players in the world have and do play in the synergy league, the current #1 is DorcasA and many thanks to her and the synergy team for allowing us to play there. Synergy usually has a couple of nightowl tourneys daily and you can find laddergames there too.

The next place i play at is a cases ladder http://www.igl.net/fswordox/ which runs in the cases ladder room at hoyle. The current # 1 there is me ;-). They host a lot of variety style tourneys and they usually run in the afternoons est time.

Moving on another league im on is http://www.myleague.com/extremeox/ runs in soc room 2 at hoyle . They usually have tourneys at 8 9 and 10 pm est with impromtu tourns here and there . The current #1 is the always tough DrKate and you can usually find laddergames there too.

Ok last but not least is http://www.myleague.com/interleague/ hosted in various rooms at hoyle its a partnership between several leagues. The head admin is themummykins and the current #1 is me again and you can find tourneys with them every saturday.

Before i post this let me say that no more anonymous comments will be allowed on this subject unless they are emailed to me. Duncs has made it clear that she considers the matter finished but i told Richard he would have a chance to present his side of the situation and i let her know that too. Hindsight is always 20/20 and i wish i had tried to help both Richard and Shirley as a go -between and resolve this situation peacefully but i didnt . Not that i could have helped but it would have been worth a try.Such is life and i apologize to all involved. On to Wordmans comments

I'll let everyone know what happened in EXOX the other night that resulted in my being put in the penalty box for 90 days. I was playing Duncsmama in a tourney and she got booted twice during our game. I mistakenly thought that two boots are all a player gets before they have to forfeit (which I said to Roseva) so I left the table. Roseva, who was the TD informed me that a player gets three boots and told me I shouldn't have left the table so soon. O.K. My bad. She could have told me I lost the game since I left table prematurely. But she didn't. All she said was for me to replay the game against Duncsmama. I went to the table and reset, assuming that Duncs would come replay the game. When Duncs got back into the room Roseva said to please replay the game. Duncs announced that she was having computer problems, had booted twice and would probably get booted again so it was ok. Still at the table waiting for her, I said, "Come on, we can still play." Duncs said "I already reported the loss, Wordman." End of story. Or so I thought. Two days later I tried to register for another EXOX tourney and saw a message that I'd been put in the penalty box for 90 days for unsportsmanlike conduct. I thought it was a joke. Apparently it wasn't. Duncsmama sent me an e-mail
saying that I should have waited for her to get back-- that everyone has ten minutes to return after being booted and I didn't wait ten minutes. That's true, I didn't wait ten minutes for her to get back cuz she'd booted twice and I THOUGHT that's all a player gets. So, it wasn't so much a time infraction as it was a boot rule infraction. So why didn't Roseva just award the win to Duncs? Instead Roseva asked me to REPLAY THE GAME, which I attempted to do, but Duncs reported the loss so fast there was no chance of a replay. And then Roseva said "Congratulations on winning the tournament, Wordman." Two days later, having received no notification that I was going to be put in the penalty box and no opportunity to defend my actions or offer an explanation, I saw that I was boxed for 90 DAYS. Duncsmama and Roseva claimed that I "tried to make my own rules." Like I said, all Roseva had to do was tell me I forfeited the game because I left table too soon. But she told me to replay the game. So I didn't realize what I did was such a major crime. I was told later that Duncs stayed out of it left it up to Roseva and Roguish to decide what my "punishment" should be. First of all, Duncs is head administrator of EXOX. Shouldn't she have a major say in issues like this? Especially since she was the one playing me at the time. Instead, she "stayed out of it" and let Roseva and Roguish determine my penalty. And Roguish wasn't even in the room at the time, so why should he have any more say about it than Duncs? Below is a verbatim e-mail that Roseva sent to me. Read it and keep in mind that she's an administrator of a word game league:

FIRST OF ALL RICHARD I'M THE ONE WHO BOXED YOU. DUNCAN LEFTED THE DECISION UP TO ME AND ROG.
YOU WERE BOXED FOR YOUR ACTIONS ON TUESDAY NITE, I ASK YOU TO SET TIME AT :40. YOU ASKED ABOUT THE 2 BOOT RULE, I TOLD YOU RULE WAS 3 BOOTS, YOU SAID 2 AND LEFTED THE TABLE. I SAID THAT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT.
YOU WERE TOTALY DISRESPECTFUL OF ME AS A TD, THE RULES STATE 3 BOOTS, AND IT ALSO TD HAS FINAL SAY IN ALL MATTERS.

I WOULD HAVE BOXED ANY PLAYER THAT ACTED THE WAY YOU DID.

Even if I were "disrespectful" to Roseva (which I don't think I was). . . she just took the situation too personally. I admit I made a mistake and left the table too soon. So that deserves 90 DAYS in the penalty box? Besides, Roseva did ask me to replay the game, which I was ready and willing to do. But Duncs went ahead and reported the loss and declined to replay, which was HER CHOICE. 90 days seems like overkill, especially when I've seen other players act much more rudely to TD's for which they got no penalty at all.
As for the cowardly little assholes who like to make derogatory comments but don't have the decency or the courage to sign their names, you're missing the point. Just like the idiot who said to Perrin, "you think you and wordman are immune to the rules." No, I don't think I'm immune to the rules. I just think that in this case the punishment doesn't fit the 'crime.' One week in the box or even two is understandable. But 90 DAYS? As for you scum who sign your posts 'anonymous' you're so pathetic -- why risk making yourself known when you can keep hiding behind anonymity, right?

Just after Exox banned Shadow, I personally apologized to Shadow for the way we handled things. I did fret over how to make things right and I never came up with a good solution. I guess I had hoped things would just get better with time. I see now that I should have offered up a very PUBLIC apology and made it very clear that Shadow was more than welcome to join Exox and I should have done it immediately. I'm sorry I did not and all I can do to rectify that now is to say it now. Shadow, please except my humblest apology for the injustice that Exox did to you. Please know that you are more than welcome to play in Exox

If people will tell the truth Wordman is a major pain to the tds when they are trying to host he constantly pms them trying to tell them how to do their job which if he knows so much why isnt he a td? When he isnt trying to tell them thjeir job he has something bad to say about everyone and he will pm anyone and everyone to tell them . he deserves what he got. To bad they didnt ban him.

I am writing in response to all the blogs and what happened to Wordman. . This matter is over with and the boxing stands. He broke the rules and basically was unapologetic about it. The penalty stands. No one is above the rules of Cases or Extreme.
I stand by my administrators and tourney directors.

I'm not going to get bogged down in details arguing with you about this last issue with Wordman, Jeff. I've already said how I feel. What I do want to address is your remark about seeing players hounded out of the league. First of all the deal was Shadow was a huge mistake and the current HA still grieves over that. That mistake was made because of someone's (guess who!) pm's accusing Shad of being a cheat. Duncs was new to her position, shouldn't have listened to the trouble causer and regrets the whole mess and the way it came down. She will not make that mistake again. She would do anything to take it back. I know this for a fact. Second, Mini's trouble was not with the current administration. It was with Ayla and it started when you gave Ayla the league instead of giving it to Mini. There was no appeasing Mini and I know because she got pissed off at me and nothing I tried could make things better.
For you to say you feel ashamed that a league you created boots and boxes... etc. Let me remind you that you bailed when this league was dying. Ayla brought it back to life by working her butt off. She didn't get along with everyone, but do you, Jeff? Do I? Does anyone? When Ayla could no longer put the time and energy to EXOX because of a series of personal catastrophes, Duncs stepped in and took over a job she really had no intention of keeping. In my opinion, she has done a great job. There is no petty arguing in EXOX. We treat each other with respect.
Now I'm going to go out on a limb and really piss some people off. It seems to me that Wordman and Mini aren't happy unless they are unhappy. They manage to make waves everywhere they go. Anyone who has been around any length of time or paid any attention, you included, knows that. Doesn't mean we don't like them. Doesn't mean we don't want them around. Just means some of us have their number.
Sorry to all who have taken offense to what I say here, but like Jeff, this is my opinion and he has been gracious enough to let me post it. So thanks, Jeff, and Happy New Year too.

The only thing i have to say is in my own defense. When i gave Ayla the league it was doing well. It was mired in controversy but it was still gaining members and hosting tourneys. I gave Ayla the league because of personal issues with my family and work that have since been resolved. I also gave it to her with the understanding that if she wanted to quit she would pass it back to me. I know what happened there no matter what she wants to say. But thats water under the bridge. The only reason i posted anything at all about this situation is because i am a member of extremeox still, until im booted or i leave, and im concerned about the fairness of 90 days for a first offense and no hearing or anything. Right or wrong to be concerned ? Maybe but i still am concerned. I have sent players to extreme from my league and i would hate to see the same thing happen to one of them.

In response to Bluberry thanks Blu im glad you decided to speak out. The purpose of this blog is not only a forum for my views but its also a soapbox for any player td admin or non league player that wants to say something. I will post almost anything for anyone who wants to email it and i do allow comments anonymous or signed in that section.

Whether you like or dislike Richard and whether or not he plays at Exox much my opinion is that he should have been given a hearing and the chance to apologize. As i have said before i know my opinion carries absolutely no weight with the current exox administration but give it i will. I have seen players hounded out of that league since i left as admin and altho i have no say in how its run i do feel ashamed that a league i created (cant change that fact no matter what!!!) boots and boxes players without giving them a chance to apologize or get a hearing. If anyone wants to know what i mean ask Shadow or MiniFrump , they can damn sure clue you in.

Now in conclusion , if the wiews expressed here offend anyone GOOD!! If you agree with them GOOD!!! You are all welcome to speak out in the comments section or you can email me if you want a front page post. I think all the players should have a voice , here is your chance.

I recently saw that wordman had got 90 days in the box at exox for unsportsmanlike conduct. Im thinking wtf did u do Richard? Kill an admin? Chopblock a td? jeez. Well since i hate not knowing i asked him and as it turns out he misunderstood the boot rule at exox , they misunderstood him and he got clobbered . He told me he didnt get a chance to defend himself or give an explanation before they boxed him. I know that my opinion doesnt mean a damn thing to any admin of any league anywhere but im gonna give it anyway just because i can and 90 days is pretty harsh for a first offense misunderstanding. If it was me in his position i would think that i was blindsided or ambushed. FREE Wordman50!!!

Wordsteal League at Synergy

Thanks to Dorcas and Nanc at Synergy League for letting wordsteal league use the competitive room during the day. We should be able to get in a few tourneys here and there until mark gets steal going again and the synergy league has nightly tourneys at 11 and 12 for the night owl people out there . I have been a member at synergy for a couple of years, they have a topnotch group and some of the best competition on the wordox scene so be sure to join in their tourneys too. Cya at the tables!

If the title for this post doesnt say shithead just use your imagination. I went to FSW (which is a cases ladder and not a myleague) today to play in a shrinking pinks tourney. Round 2 i got matched up with Old Shep. The format was clear on top and bottom pinks only and you know me , i got excited and used a middle pink. He gets the cheap win. I won my 3rd round match and while waiting for the td to announce pairs for 4th round Diamond Di the td pmed me and Di has always been very nice to everyone so far as i have ever seen just FYI. All that he managed to do was ensure that i will be back over there every time i look at their schedule and see him in a tourney. Ordinarily i wouldnt bother but Shep isnt ordinary, he is a bullying asshole over there and nothing is more fun than whuppin the schoolyard bully. Even if it is just a game.... I think FSW has been too insulated for too long and they could use a dose of a new arrogant asshole like me instead of the stale lame dickweed that is OldShep so ;-)

wtf is goin on?

After a gard days work today that began at 430 am i get home , pour up a glass of iced tea and head for the pc to get in some laddergames and or a tourney. What i find is not only is steal still down hoyle is also effed up. Steal i can understand being down since its owned by an individual and we have an explanation about it too but at hoyle , owned by a big company you would think they might post a note saying when or what or why. Instead there is nothing which potentially drives more players away to other games and sites. If enough of the remaining hoyle players got together and threatened to leave en mass and boycott all of the companys associated with hoyle ownership maybe the suits would take notice and fix it. Maybe?

I had heard that Boggman aka Bogglicious was back in action and i ran across him Saturday at hoyle. He was another tough ass player with attitude and you could usually be guaranteed a tough game with him. He says he has been practising and i hope he hangs around because the more competition we have the better the game is.

I had a blast at interleague and synergy last night . Sneaky put out email on how to get in at hoyle and Oxtail made it over , there were some good turnouts with 14 or so players per tourney. IrishLass was over in Soc 1 raising hell too lol. A good time was had by most.

Game Etiquette & Sportsmanship

Wow i really hate to hafta write on this subject but after today i guess i really need to. Unless you are in a tourney playing someone that you absolutely cant stand and never speak too under any circumstances you could have the grace to say gl at the start and gg at the end of the game win or lose. Not doing so makes you look like a turd and for some people that just reinforces peoples perception of you.

Today i played at FSWordox . In a game vs JoeyTribiani aka / Chris Aka Conjunction the format was corner clears only. He thought that meant we could only clear in our own corner so when i cleared in the top beside him and the td told him the rule was any corner he got mad , left the game before it was over and started bitching at the td. When you check the little box that says you understand the rules and then fail to clarify things with the td before you start its your fault there , dumb-ass.

Now in another situation we had Joey again and he was playing OldShep who is an asshole to begin with but thats beside the point . They had issues and had to restart and when Joey kicked Sheps pathetic old ass Shep reported to td in lobby Shitforbrains/OldShep. The td actually laughed about it and i doubt he was called down about it. Like Joey or not that was rude so i congratulated Joey in lobby by saying wtg Joey on beating OldShit. Yeah i can be a rude mfer too. Shep if we ever by some obscure chance of fate meet up please remind me to thump you in your fat head , you rude old shitheel.

Now i pretty much say what i want here but i guarantee ya this much , unless i hate your miserable guts and dont talk to you at all you will get the courtesy of a gl and gg from me in the game. And if you dont return it screw you!!

Steal Down :-(

It sucks when steal is down on the weekend. Over at hoyle not much happens on Saturdays. Interleague has a few tourneys but Mummy doesnt get much support from her tds except for the same few diehards every week. Anyway i played there this morning , got to beat Ceedie, and damn girl i forgot how much fun it is to beat your silly ass!!! It was good to see Bluberry Minifrump Duncs and the other hoylers too. Its been awhile since i played regularly at hoyle and its hard to get used to no single s and the old dictionary again. I played at my old home league Extremeox last night but i fell asleep before the Synergy tourneys started which i really wanted to play in. I get up at 4 am every day now and it isnt easy to stay up late. Hopefully i will make it over there tonight for Barbs tourns. Hopefully maybe FSW will have a few mini tourneys this afternoon.

This Week

The ladder has hosted around 190 tourneys in the month of november so far so we will break 200 if cases and steal cooperates with us. We also have over 10,000 matches recored now. More and more players are coming in for laddergames too which makes it more fun. The top 10 at the moment has IrishLass at #10 Bronzelonna at #9, #8 is oxtailsoup #7 is red_dawn #6 Ricketytick. #5 is Bambiella #4 is Natssssss coming in at #3 is me #2 is wordman and the new # 1 for the moment is JoeyTribiani aka Chris . Joey says he will play just as much after taking the crown as he did before, in tourneys and laddermatches so anyone looking for a shot at the crown come in to the room and look him up. If you dont i will cause i owe the little fart a beating ;-)

Ok , for new readers and for thecastle, this is an open forum for comments unless i decide otherwise. Right now i allow anonymous comments and comments from people hiding under aliases but thats at my discretion and if a comment is nothing but name-calling with no substance to it, whether the claims be true or false i will remove it if i see fit. After all this is MY blog, i write whatever the hell i want here and if you dont like it go get your own blog. I dont like the idea of someone posting under a fake name really but i can understand it in some cases

Its good to see players that arent as highly rated as others improving their game and getting some good wins. Debbers (bambiella's mom) recently picked up her first 2 wins in the league and Pam got a victory on Dorcas today. Pam caught me for a win a few weeks ago also, so it just goes to show that working hard on your game does pay off.

For those who messaged me about my comment on top ten activity.... never be afraid to ask for a laddergame or a set. Most players will be glad to hook you up and the games will improve you.

A week until Thanksgiving, a little over a month until Christmas and i am not having any family at my house for anything!! We are gonna go to them this year. Finally!!

This Week

Its been a hell of a week. I took my daughter out for trick or treat Wed night. Last year i had to work so this is the first time i got to go with her. We had fun even with the sensory overload she had going on due to all the monsters out running around. Thursday i had to work from 5 am to 9 pm which is never fun. Friday i had the day off to go to a parent teacher conference. CJ is doing great in school so there wasnt much to report there. Saturday afternoon the inlaws all came over for a cookout down on the creek. In between cooking and eating i managed to kill a liter of Early Times bourbon. Yes i had 1 hell of a hangover this morning lol.

Ok on to the ladder. Everything continues to go well for us mostly due to the fact that i have a kick ass staff running things. A few of our tds have been out of action lately due to things personal or work related etc and we miss them. They know who they are and we hope to see you guys back soon.

The top ten this week has Just_Fancy coming in at # 10 with TheMummykins at #9. #8 is Wordman50 with isitheshoes at # 7 and # 6 is StunnedMullet. rounding out the top 5 is SneakyPete then Shadowy_Niddyz at #4 with me at #3 OxtailSoup at #2 and Natssss on top at #1 . Weird Rules

As most everyone knows i hate weird variations in tourneys. I iam not selective about certain formats, i hate them all. I like regular no s wordox and i can tolerate no pinks but thats about it. However I have heard from many people lately that the odd formats give them a chance against better players. Why they would want a tainted win because i screw up and play a 3rd tile in a 2 tile tourney i have no idea but i am going to start playing them. I figure what the hell, i get more games in and more opportunity to put new words into play that i am currently learning. So look out you freaky people im coming to play weirdox

Rated @ Steal

A couple of players have asked why i dont come to rated much anymore and there are a few reasons. #1 on the list.... i have more fun playing friends in laddergames and tourneys in the ladder room. I also dont miss the politics and backbiting in the rated room. I know there are a number of posers in there and they love to talk a big game but you rarely see them put it on the line when it comes to the possibility of losing a few ratings points. If you just want a good time head to the ladder room and if you dont have friends there when you start you will make some pretty quick. We have a kickass bunch of people playing now and it just keeps getting better. Cya at the the tables

Moving On

As much fun as it was trading comments with Dorcas in the last post it is time to move along. Btw Dorcas welcome back to the league ;-) On to business.

It seems that the infamous Redfan73 is back in action and has joined the league. Old Red doesnt like the fast paced games and wishes it was back to the days of 45/45/s . Red, the reason our players like 20-30 sec games is because it makes you think fast and discourages cheating. Good luck learning to play at speed.

On to league stuff . Laddergames are slowly picking up. I am home most afternoons (except wednesdays) and will play anyone a set. Keeping up

Wow , its hard to believe i have been writing here for well over a year, more like a year and a half seeing that my first post was in may 2006. Made lots of new friends and a few new enemies, had a lot of fun playing the game and writing about it and other subjects for my entertainment. Maybe i should reprint what i consider to be some of my classic posts like the ones about the GLH gang that i had so many great games against ( think i finally scared them off lol).

Anyhoo lets take a look at the state of the ladder first , in the past week we have done around 300 matches rough guess maybe a bit more. The Top 10 as of today, coming in at #10 is Shadowy_Niddyz , Just ahead of him at #9 is Spot60(sprot) #8 it is isittheshoes #7 is the feisty IrishLass ....sneaking in at #6 she is sneakypete68 at #5 is Natssssssssssssssssssssssss and her sister jumped her to # 4 thats Redberry coming in at # 3 is Oxtailsoup with me at #2 and on top of the heap is Wordman50. People are getting in some laddergames as they get used to the idea of a league at Wordsteal and we may see activity pick up there as we start enforcing the rules on top players and playing for rank. Thats an item for discussion at the TD meeting.

Good news for me is that finally the sticks/boogerwoods area i live in has DSL available, which i have ordered and it will be active the end of the month! Freakin Finally!!

I loved Hoyle but i have just as much fun at Steal without my antivirus/antispyware program causing trouble when i go in. Saturday Stuff

Well lost the belt to a player named Oxtailsoup , but I got my win streak up to 24 games before it got broken. Oxtail....keep that belt nice and shiny- i will be back for it lol(correction Sneaky has my belt now same rule applies keep it shiny ;-).

Reading list, i just read a Frank Sinatra bio, i never realized how deep into the mob that guy was. Also read 100 years 100 stories by George Burns, Book 1 of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Also finished a book called The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn about the Brooklyn Dodgers of the 1950's. All very good reads , i hope some of you get the chance to read any of them.Next on the list I am about to start a Terry Brooks fantasy series and a book called Overload by Arthur Hailey.

One of my favorite authors passed away recently , he wrote the Wheel of Time series under the pen name Robert Jordan. That series is where i picked up the screen name of Perrin.

On the Mixed Martial Arts front , the Ultimate Fighter reality series on Spike is in full swing, this season focuses on welterweights and if you like combat sports you will love UFC.

Damn its good to be in a very active league, holding the #1 title belt with a 22 game streak going! The league is kicking ass and i have, counting myself, 10 td's with Redberry returning by Oct 5th. We have great players and as of 730 tonight we had done 92 matches today. Pretty damn good for a Tuesday Without a great staff and SneakyPete68 (shes a girl lol) helping on admin it couldnt be done. Thanks to them we have one hell of a good league going.

I miss seeing some of the people from Holye like my pard Hollypeenyo (The Spicy One) and i hope some of them come over and join the competition.

The League , Wordsteal and Rescue Me

www.myleague.com/wordsteal has gotten back into the groove with tourneys , we have 101 members now with 51 active in the last 3 weeks and we will break the 3000 matches played mark by this weekend. Not bad for an old school style wordox format. And Cleo.... that guns-n-roses wannabe even has the gall to use axl-rose as a screen name, i feel sorry for him if you ever get your hands on him lol .

Now Rescue Me.... the show wasnt as good to me this season , sure it had its fuuny points like when Lou tried to fight his cousin after he caught him screwing his (Lou's) ex-nun girlfriend but they really watered down the Tommy Gavin character i thought. He babbled way too much when confronted as was way too much of a puss. I hope Leary writes Tommy some balls back in to the character next season.

Just another Poser

Yeah its the internet, a grand place for any peckerhead with a keyboard and a connection to talk shit about whatever comes to mind. I know what you are thinking lol so kiss my ass :P Anyway , on the internet a game lobby is a public place and if you are going to talk smack about a person and do it where everyone can read it please try and have the balls to say your little piece when the person you are trying to run down is in the lobby to return fire.
For the readers that are now wondering what the hell im talking about sit back and read on, i will clue you in. Paul/Gunsnroses/Paradicecity/50 other jerkass names set a table and asked for nonwimps to play. Being the nonwimp that i am i joined his table. Being the jabroni he is he left watchers open. 2 or 3 players decided to watch and when i made a couple of steals they said wd or vn. He started crying about fanclubs etc (i noticed that he watches any number of games) and went on to lose the game and then he continued his little rant in the lobby. I told him i would gladly play with watchers closed at any time then left to host a tourney. After i left he decided to make nasty comments about league players and me etc. I know this because players sent me screenshots. Thanks Yall :-)
Anyway , since this is the internet i cant very well go punch him in the nose, lucky for him. I already beat him in the game no matter what his lame ass excuses are ( i keep watchers closed so i dont have that convenient excuse when i lose) but i would be glad to whip his ass again in the game or in a tourney if i thought it would shut him up.
I know he is a good player but his posturing and grandstanding in the lobby hasnt impressed anyone that i have talked to yet. He is just another poser !!

Im Back

Wow its been awhile since i posted, the cobwebs are thick around here..... The league action has been spotty, Thanks to mummy sneaky melisca and greasegravy , they have been keeping things going while i have been working my ass off. We finally hired a supervisor to replace the one we fired , i train her this week and the overtime is finished. I will be able to devote time to the league business after that , and hopefully kick some wordsteal ass. Mixed Martial Arts

The fastest growing sport in the world , eclipsing boxing in pay per view dollars , and i cant get enough of it. Lucky for me there is plenty of fight coverage on TV now along with behind the scenes shows, reality shows and the.history of martial arts. Check out VS network for the freaks that own TAPOUT, and the WEC which was recently purchased by the owners of ULTIMATE FIGHTING , The History Channel for a cool look at different disciplines, and Spike TV for UFC and World Combat League which is owned by Chuck Norris. BoDog Fight is pretty good too. Personal favorite fighters of mine in different weight classes are Randy Couture , Chuck Lidell, Matt Hughes , Urijah Faber, and Andre Arlovski. Its a brutal sport but now considered safer than boxing because of the rules and safeguards. Sunday night on VS there is a live card featuring at least 1 title fight. Grab a bottle of whiskey , kick back and enjoy ;-)

Wordsteal Withdrawal

People are asking where to go & what to play while steal is down... I have been playing at hoyle wordox in synergy league in comp room and soc room 1 for regular games . I havent been able to get home from work in time to play at extremeox league in soc room 2 but its a good 1 too if anyone wants to tourney or play laddergames for rating/rank. Interleague hosts tourneys and laddergames in various rooms on saturdays and for those that like variety/weirdox rules there is FSW in the cases ladder room. there are a couple of other leagues in the other rooms, just cruise thru and check them out. Off and on for 10 years. I started playing when wordox was on won.net..Played for about 1 year there; years 2-8 i played rarely when i could remember who had this version...and Hoyle but didn't go there to much either maybe 2-3 times a year...then i decided to type it in google one day about a year ago and found wordsteal- And viola` her i am one year later-still addicted!
Favorite options/Tourney format No S No P/ 30/35...Crossox, Borderline, Some partners, Not real fond of clears but if I'm going to play them i like 20 sec/50points/No rules or 20/20/no rules.

We broke the thousand match mark today! we are at 66 members active over last 15 days since i made it and averaged roughly 71 matches a day for that period. Wow The Big 40

Its my birthday, i dont feel 40 which i guess is a good thing. My daughter said " daddy you are very old today" and i said "thanks punkin" ;-) . The League is kicking ass we have 65 members and approaching 1000 matches played. I took a break and went to the TOC at extremeox yesterday and managed to take home the trophy on that. thats it for now cyas ;-)

More on league

The league, www.myleague.com/wordsteal is different than what most expect from an ox style league. Being that we have many players from the uk , europe and around the world styles clash. I feel that the mix is much broader than it ever was at hoyle which makes for some unique problems. The graphics arent as good as hoyle , the site www.wordsteal.com is privately owned also and that brings another set of rules that are different. The site owner is continually upgrading and i like features he has added such as the no pinks feature and the new dictionary but getting the dictionary to the ladder room will take time as he fixes other issues/bugs. I plan on having a mixed group for admin team with people representing both uk and usa to take care of issues as they come up. Please bear with me as we get organized and the kinks will eventually work out .Thats it for now i hope to see ya all there ;-)

League News

The new league, www.myleague.com/wordsteal is shaping up nicely. We had 60 matches on the ladder today and while most were tourney matches there was a few ladder matches on there too. Staff now includes me and dreamluver as the first admins and greasegravy as an htd and redberry is kicking ass as a new td. We hope to add more tds even if all they can host is once a month. Looks like Ricketytick got by Guns_n_Roses today to take the #1 title belt, we will see how long he can sucessfully defend it with a growing list of challengers after the belt. I have a 930 pm tourney set up for the 4th of July and im sure the other tds will do what they can.

If you have something to say to the wordox/wordsteal world (and people do read the drivel i write and talk about it or so i hear) whether it be signed by you or just anonymous type it up and send it to me and i will post it. Well CutiePi or whichever name you are using today I am so very proud of you for not ridiculing people. I wish i could rise to your level but it just makes me sick to see players with high ratings that reject comparable players wanting a game then play someone rated 500 points below them just to get 1 more ratings point on their tally. Gee who the hell does that at wordsteal???? I will continue to write ridicule call names or do whatever i can if it shames even one player into taking on quality opponents.

Why i bitch about the game, The league etc

A player asked me recently why i spend so much time bitching and complaing about ox and wordsteal on here. As i have said before if people can call scrabble an indoor sport i can call ox/ws an indoor sport if i want to. Now that we have established that ox/ws is a sport that i have by the way spent a number of years competing in i get easily pissed off when people abuse my good nature when competing against me in my sport or otherwise do things in the game or lobby that i want to rant about here. Now on to the league at WS.... thanks go out to Phil Gray and Shiloh for their help allowing us to advertise and even have a league. Hopefully we will continue to grow and have fun. Cyas

The league had a good start with 9 people playing in the first tourney which was won by Guns-N-Roses. The next tourney , today at 1 pm est will be no pinks. We have more than 20 members so far and im sure it will expand. Dreamluver has signed on as an HTD and she brings a couple of years experience as an admin and td to the league. Hoyle at Wordsteal

Its good to see that Hoyle players are coming out to wordsteal. I believe that people can enjoy both products. However if you are from Holye and someone happens to accuse you of being a ringer because you (Spot and others lol) just whipped their sorry ass tell them that you are an experienced player from another site and ask them if they want another beating like the one they just got? They will either play you again or crawl off whimpering , either way you can be proud of your Hoyle background while meeting greeting and beating players from all over the world. Wherever you play have fun and raise some hell !

Posers at Wordsteal

Another gripe session about Wordsteal. I along with a few other players have noticed that at Wordsteal there are a number of players with ratings of 2000 and above that come in and sit in the room and rarely or never play. Want an example? Ok here ya go!! A player named MarkPisces comes in saturday with a win/loss record of around 398-4 and a rating of about 2400 which is a nice rating. This sad sap proceeds to sit in the room and do nothing for 3 hours straight. I asked Rickety about him and he told me he asked the guy to play once and the asswipe replied "I am too good for you". This isnt the first time i have seen this guy come in and parade his rating without playing but every time i see him or one of the other jerks there (and believe me there are several) do their poser routine it pisses me off to no end. Im done ranting for now cya!

Extreme

The Extreme Icon (me) made it back to competition in the Asylum (social room 2 ) today. There was a nice turnout for the tourneys and i managed to win 2 of the 3 i played in. After taking an initial beating or two from Bluberry i managed to bounce back and salvage a bit of skin and pride and take her out for the count ;-)
The leagues are in terrible shape attendance wise from what i saw in the standings today. Maybe people will come in out of the heat and start playing more often. I plan on trying to get the word out to some of the wordsteal players that there are tourneys to play in at hoyle, who knows maybe even a few of the posers over there will come out.

My first tourney in months took place at Interleague and i had a GREAT time. I ended up losing to that rascal Junior but i whupped Ceedie so bad she tucked her tail between her legs and ran off before the game was even over. Also a shout out to Barb for hosting at Synergy late last night, Thanks Barb it was great fun!

Bored

Im bored with Ox again so just to shake things up a bit i rejoined Interleague today. I might actually even play there too. I feel the hissing and booing but i dont care , like me or not you gotta deal with me :-) Cya at one site or another!

Rescue Me

The new season of Rescue Me started last night and the show is as funny and dramatic as ever. I am looking forward to the full season. The actor who plays Franco said in an interview to not get too attached to any one character this season so its probably going to be one hell of a wild ride this time around. I cant wait until next Wednesday.

A Day in Kentucky

Made it back to my homestate for a visit yesterday. I took my daughter CJ to a small amusement/waterpark in Bowling Green Ky called Beech Bend park. Its an out of the way little place but its quite nice. It has a number of rides geared towards smaller children and stuff for teens and adults as well. They have a nice waterpark too and the kid had a blast. They let me take her on the WildMouse which is a spinning roller coaster and after that all she wanted to do was ride the fastest rides. They had a large water ride with 2 big drops and she made me ride that 1 with her about 20 times. A fun day in the Bluegrass State.

Stackers

Speaking of pet peeves.... Stacking is part of the game but geez i hate playing someone that focuses solely on stacking my words at the expense of their own game. Case in point the game i am in at this writing i led off with tut, the other player tried to stack not on top of it (<---not paying attention at all , just trying to grab a stack) and lost a turn. every play this player made was aimed at stacking on my stuff. I run into this one dimensional playing style quite often. Ugh!

I Get It

I finally understand why people at wordsteal hate ringers. You work hard , build up a respectable rating, play anyone who wants a game (i do anyway) and along comes some asshole with a new name and in this game skilled or not you cant win every game so you take a beating on that hard earned rating to someone who has a name with a respectable rating already. Why these people cant stick with one or 2 names is a question unanswerable. I will continue to play the ringers, assholes that they are but like i said i do understand the hatred and continuing rejections for games by established players when one of these jerks comes along.

Idiots

Saw a player with 45/45/s/o pinks ok set up and i said to myself what the heck, i havent played pinks ok in a long time. Players name was Ginny3, maybe a nice person , maybe friendly with many people, had a nice rating too and after this post you too may wonder how she earned it. First time pinks were open i cleared and she typed LOL. I let it go and cleared again a few mins later and got another LOL. I asked what she was laughing at and she replied that she wanted to see if i was a pinker. I replied that if the options allow it , youbetcha i am and she replied "lame". I told her that the site we are on offers no pinks (duh) and cracked the whip once more for the win. With a 2120 rating you would think she might know this(duh again). Why in the hell someone would option pinks allowed and then bitch about me clearing has only 1 explanation. IDIOT!!!

UFC 71 & more

Chuck "the Iceman" Liddell lost to Quentin "Rampage" Jackson in the first round of the main event . It was a huge knockout that left me and everyone else stunned. So Rampage is the new light-heavyweight champ. On to wordsteal....
I find it funnier than hell that some people want to play me, others want to parade their rating in the lobby, and ringers .... oh boy they come after me quick. As soon as one gets a new name bam!! As for the paraders, gimme a fucking break, win or lose you dont impress me, if you even have the guts to play. Get off your ass and bring it on. Thanks to those players that day in and day out bring their best shot and actually compete instead of playing anagrams and showing off their rating in the lobby. Good Day.

Hoyle

A few folks have asked if i have played at Hoyle lately or plan to. No i havent and no i am not. I hear the joyous shouts from some of you (you know who you are) glad to be rid of a troublemaking sonofabitch. You shouters can bugger off. I will miss playing some of you, if you want games come play me at Wordsteal.com , it will be good to see ya there. Its contaminated with freaks but i havent seen any monkeypox there yet. Even if that disease is there it cant ruin leagues. So cya at the tables ;-)

Wordsteal Ratings etc

I guess its easy to build a killer rating if you are selective about who you play. I know i harp on this alot but its a pet peeve of mine. If i have a table set up im not gonna reject a player, i dont care if its amplipeckerhead, verbigator or the devil himself.
I also hear there is a new league at wordsteal , why do they need a league? They are already rated and there are plenty of places online to get brackets to set up tourneys. None of my business i guess but i can write whatever i want here :-)

A Wordsteal Blog

Was doing a blog search for wordox/wordsteal references and ran accross this.....http://wordsteal.blogspot.com/2007/04/welcome-to-mbwordsteal-blog.html It only had 5 coments on it but i added a 6th. There are a lot of players at wordsteal with pretty ratings 2000 and up that are complete wimps. They like to parade that rating but they damn sure like to protect it too. If you have a 2000 and over rating you can still get a couple of rating points by beating players rated 1700 and up. Or they say " this person must be someone from hoyle, oh my god!! they might tarnish my precious win loss record or unearned rating". I have seen this firsthand as has wordman and other players . Kudos to the ones who do want to play and also a round of applause to those with lower ratings who keep trying. As for the rest grow a set and play!

Playing at Hoyle

It was good to see everyone at Hoyle Sunday. I got to work in a tourney with the good folks at FSW and i got to do a pards at Exox with my hotty partner Hollypeenyo. Won both tournaments so all in all it was a great day.
People were asking where i have been.... the fish have been biting and i took CJ fishing a number of times, been swimming and working on a tan, playing softball and basketball etc.

WordSteal

What little time i have to play lately has been spent playing at wordsteal.com . Most of the time when i am able to play no one is on at Hoyle and wordsteal offers rated games. It also offers an updated dictionary . Another good thing about wordsteal is you can now control watchers and there are no sound distractions. The limited graphics may run better on some older pc's as well. For no pinkers it adds a bar on the pink to remind ya not to play the pink and there is a version of the s rule in place now.
Now that i have talked about the good lets deal with the bad and ugly of wordsteal. If you are a crossover from hoyle and have any ability at all the established top rated players are suspicious of ya and several in that group have a fear of "ringers",which are top rated players that went and registered a new name. The reason that pisses these toprates off is because if you are using a new name with a 1600 rating and beat a 2100 rated player it takes a big chunk of their hard earned rating points while the 1600 rated player doesnt take any rating hit for a loss. Yes i know that shouldnt matter much but to many it does.
I miss playing in tourneys but getting a game in when i can means alot and wordsteal offers that option so if ya want to play some truly badass players that dont do hoyle i promise you can find them at wordsteal.

I know that breaks some peoples hearts lol..... Anyway I have been quite busy with doing some remodeling work on my home, spending time with my kid and the usual crap people do when they arent online. I needed a break from the ox world and i know the ox world can always use a break from me. On to weightier matters.
I dropped in on the interleague room today just in time to see Ceedie forfeit a match against Wordman. Refusing to play a cheater is one thing but passing up a chance to play against a world class player because you dont like that player is ignorant. That is as bad as the player who declined to play me because i "scare" them.... yes that actually happened to me a few weeks ago. I scare you? wtf kinda of garbage is that? Ox isnt a boxing ring where you strap on the gloves and get the crap beat out of ya. Its not a cage match , get real. Wussy.
Reading list.
I am working on reading The Belgariad by David Eddings, just finished "A Feast For Crows " by George R R Martin, and read a few more John Grisham books. I also read a few books by Larry McMurtry (Lonesome Dove) and i have a couple of Tom Clancy novels to read.

The Death of Wordox??

I got an email tonight concerning the setup of a voting booth at Accord's league on whether to keep the league active ,close it , set up a new 1 , interested at all etc. The email said that Ox and Accord are both dying the slow death. I hope not!
With Spring here and Summer around the corner participation in tourneys will continue to fail as always happens this time of year. I , for 1 , will not be on as much because i have many plans for my free time this summer.
Another problem is that many antivirus programs and spyware removers think that the WonWebLauncher is a spybot and people have trouble getting in to Hoyle because of that.
Maybe one day the new owners of Hoyle will correct that problem, who knows? But until then i hope everyone can find time at least once a in awhile to join a tourney or blast a yahoo message out asking for laddergames. I will have more to say on this whole subject later about turning things around for people interested in trying.

The Balls Bomb

On my partners blog she posed the following question ....Why is it that, in the middle of a verbal battle, someone always brings up balls?} The answer, my Spicy friend , is that no matter how big the set of grapefruits a guy has the "balls" are the most vulnerable point of attack an oppenent can strike out at. Some women , lacking a set of testicles, do have ( except for Oliver who claims to have found a set, if Oliver really is a woman) and some men also have what i like to refer to as testicular fortitude which can also be vulnerable to attack. Thats why my first rule of battle is "Kick em in the nads if ya can" and im sure im not alone in that philosophy.
People who dare to be controversial are always subject to an attack on the balls, or lack of said testicles. When you dare to put your thoughts in print you are 99.9% guaranteed of a ball attack. And before i forget reading of a ball attack or writing about a swift kick in the nuts can also be very funny :-) People love balls and some love attacking them !! I hope what i wrote helps with the answer to your question :-)
