Game Etiquette & Sportsmanship

Wow i really hate to hafta write on this subject but after today i guess i really need to. Unless you are in a tourney playing someone that you absolutely cant stand and never speak too under any circumstances you could have the grace to say gl at the start and gg at the end of the game win or lose. Not doing so makes you look like a turd and for some people that just reinforces peoples perception of you.

Today i played at FSWordox . In a game vs JoeyTribiani aka / Chris Aka Conjunction the format was corner clears only. He thought that meant we could only clear in our own corner so when i cleared in the top beside him and the td told him the rule was any corner he got mad , left the game before it was over and started bitching at the td. When you check the little box that says you understand the rules and then fail to clarify things with the td before you start its your fault there , dumb-ass.

Now in another situation we had Joey again and he was playing OldShep who is an asshole to begin with but thats beside the point . They had issues and had to restart and when Joey kicked Sheps pathetic old ass Shep reported to td in lobby Shitforbrains/OldShep. The td actually laughed about it and i doubt he was called down about it. Like Joey or not that was rude so i congratulated Joey in lobby by saying wtg Joey on beating OldShit. Yeah i can be a rude mfer too. Shep if we ever by some obscure chance of fate meet up please remind me to thump you in your fat head , you rude old shitheel.

Now i pretty much say what i want here but i guarantee ya this much , unless i hate your miserable guts and dont talk to you at all you will get the courtesy of a gl and gg from me in the game. And if you dont return it screw you!!

Steal Down :-(

It sucks when steal is down on the weekend. Over at hoyle not much happens on Saturdays. Interleague has a few tourneys but Mummy doesnt get much support from her tds except for the same few diehards every week. Anyway i played there this morning , got to beat Ceedie, and damn girl i forgot how much fun it is to beat your silly ass!!! It was good to see Bluberry Minifrump Duncs and the other hoylers too. Its been awhile since i played regularly at hoyle and its hard to get used to no single s and the old dictionary again. I played at my old home league Extremeox last night but i fell asleep before the Synergy tourneys started which i really wanted to play in. I get up at 4 am every day now and it isnt easy to stay up late. Hopefully i will make it over there tonight for Barbs tourns. Hopefully maybe FSW will have a few mini tourneys this afternoon.

This Week

The ladder has hosted around 190 tourneys in the month of november so far so we will break 200 if cases and steal cooperates with us. We also have over 10,000 matches recored now. More and more players are coming in for laddergames too which makes it more fun. The top 10 at the moment has IrishLass at #10 Bronzelonna at #9, #8 is oxtailsoup #7 is red_dawn #6 Ricketytick. #5 is Bambiella #4 is Natssssss coming in at #3 is me #2 is wordman and the new # 1 for the moment is JoeyTribiani aka Chris . Joey says he will play just as much after taking the crown as he did before, in tourneys and laddermatches so anyone looking for a shot at the crown come in to the room and look him up. If you dont i will cause i owe the little fart a beating ;-)

Ok , for new readers and for thecastle, this is an open forum for comments unless i decide otherwise. Right now i allow anonymous comments and comments from people hiding under aliases but thats at my discretion and if a comment is nothing but name-calling with no substance to it, whether the claims be true or false i will remove it if i see fit. After all this is MY blog, i write whatever the hell i want here and if you dont like it go get your own blog. I dont like the idea of someone posting under a fake name really but i can understand it in some cases

Its good to see players that arent as highly rated as others improving their game and getting some good wins. Debbers (bambiella's mom) recently picked up her first 2 wins in the league and Pam got a victory on Dorcas today. Pam caught me for a win a few weeks ago also, so it just goes to show that working hard on your game does pay off.

For those who messaged me about my comment on top ten activity.... never be afraid to ask for a laddergame or a set. Most players will be glad to hook you up and the games will improve you.

League & Stuff

A week until Thanksgiving, a little over a month until Christmas and i am not having any family at my house for anything!! We are gonna go to them this year. Finally!!

OK the top ten for this post coming in at #10 new player& new td is TheBeauty. At # 9 is ShadowyJunior, at # 8 is Red_Dawn at 7 is Redberry and #6 is Oxtailsoup. Coming in at #5 bronzelonna # 4 is Sneaks # 3 wordman #2 is Natssss and I have the #1 title for the moment.

Several players are very happy about the increased activity in the top ten and laddergames between top tenners , Thanks for the feedback keep it coming.

As oxtail put the term , i have been trying to crosstrain a bit and play some weirdox. It was ok but i still would rather do regular old s rule pinks ok.

This Week

Its been a hell of a week. I took my daughter out for trick or treat Wed night. Last year i had to work so this is the first time i got to go with her. We had fun even with the sensory overload she had going on due to all the monsters out running around. Thursday i had to work from 5 am to 9 pm which is never fun. Friday i had the day off to go to a parent teacher conference. CJ is doing great in school so there wasnt much to report there. Saturday afternoon the inlaws all came over for a cookout down on the creek. In between cooking and eating i managed to kill a liter of Early Times bourbon. Yes i had 1 hell of a hangover this morning lol.

Ok on to the ladder. Everything continues to go well for us mostly due to the fact that i have a kick ass staff running things. A few of our tds have been out of action lately due to things personal or work related etc and we miss them. They know who they are and we hope to see you guys back soon.

The top ten this week has Just_Fancy coming in at # 10 with TheMummykins at #9. #8 is Wordman50 with isitheshoes at # 7 and # 6 is StunnedMullet. rounding out the top 5 is SneakyPete then Shadowy_Niddyz at #4 with me at #3 OxtailSoup at #2 and Natssss on top at #1 . A reminder to top ten players, if you are inactive for 2 days you will lose rank for inactivity .

Weird Rules

As most everyone knows i hate weird variations in tourneys. I iam not selective about certain formats, i hate them all. I like regular no s wordox and i can tolerate no pinks but thats about it. However I have heard from many people lately that the odd formats give them a chance against better players. Why they would want a tainted win because i screw up and play a 3rd tile in a 2 tile tourney i have no idea but i am going to start playing them. I figure what the hell, i get more games in and more opportunity to put new words into play that i am currently learning. So look out you freaky people im coming to play weirdox

Rated @ Steal

A couple of players have asked why i dont come to rated much anymore and there are a few reasons. #1 on the list.... i have more fun playing friends in laddergames and tourneys in the ladder room. I also dont miss the politics and backbiting in the rated room. I know there are a number of posers in there and they love to talk a big game but you rarely see them put it on the line when it comes to the possibility of losing a few ratings points. If you just want a good time head to the ladder room and if you dont have friends there when you start you will make some pretty quick. We have a kickass bunch of people playing now and it just keeps getting better. Cya at the the tables

Moving On

As much fun as it was trading comments with Dorcas in the last post it is time to move along. Btw Dorcas welcome back to the league ;-) On to business.

It seems that the infamous Redfan73 is back in action and has joined the league. Old Red doesnt like the fast paced games and wishes it was back to the days of 45/45/s . Red, the reason our players like 20-30 sec games is because it makes you think fast and discourages cheating. Good luck learning to play at speed.

On to league stuff . Laddergames are slowly picking up. I am home most afternoons (except wednesdays) and will play anyone a set. Laddergames are the heart and soul of a great league and i hope as we get bigger more people will come in for them. The ladder room uses the same dictionary that is in place in rated also.

Keeping up

Wow , its hard to believe i have been writing here for well over a year, more like a year and a half seeing that my first post was in may 2006. Made lots of new friends and a few new enemies, had a lot of fun playing the game and writing about it and other subjects for my entertainment. Maybe i should reprint what i consider to be some of my classic posts like the ones about the GLH gang that i had so many great games against ( think i finally scared them off lol).

Anyhoo lets take a look at the state of the ladder first , in the past week we have done around 300 matches rough guess maybe a bit more. The Top 10 as of today, coming in at #10 is Shadowy_Niddyz , Just ahead of him at #9 is Spot60(sprot) #8 it is isittheshoes #7 is the feisty IrishLass ....sneaking in at #6 she is sneakypete68 at #5 is Natssssssssssssssssssssssss and her sister jumped her to # 4 thats Redberry coming in at # 3 is Oxtailsoup with me at #2 and on top of the heap is Wordman50. People are getting in some laddergames as they get used to the idea of a league at Wordsteal and we may see activity pick up there as we start enforcing the rules on top players and playing for rank. Thats an item for discussion at the TD meeting.

Good news for me is that finally the sticks/boogerwoods area i live in has DSL available, which i have ordered and it will be active the end of the month! Freakin Finally!!

My Partner , The Spicy One , HollyPeenyo had a good post on her blog about Hoyle and the fact that players just are not going there anymore. To check that out see my links section. I loved Hoyle but i have just as much fun at Steal without my antivirus/antispyware program causing trouble when i go in. I hope some of the Hoylers will come kick it old school style at Steal and try the league

Much thanks go out to Phil Gray , from the very start of the league he has helped out in every way , and now he has added league info to the useful links section of the wordsteal sign in page. As for the league itself lets take a look , top ten , The current champ is Wordman50 followed by Oxtailsoup at 2 me (kes) at #3 the kid Shadowy_Niddyz otherwise known as Junior comes in at #4 at # 5 its the Werewolf of London BigBad Wolfy, coming in at # 6 is Redberry , a big Welcome back to her we missed her! #7 is the shoeman isittheshoes , # 8 is Bambiella # 9 is theMummykins (send her your plump kids) and rounding out the top ten is PamelaKay aka JustFancy. We have put in more than 500 matches since last friday and i also want to thank MysticStar for coming in to handle the graphics admin for the league, she is a kickass graphic artist and we are lucky to have her.

Finally we have tourneys all weekend and should have a bunch of great players in and they will all be lookin to whup some ass.

Saturday Stuff

Well lost the belt to a player named Oxtailsoup , but I got my win streak up to 24 games before it got broken. Oxtail....keep that belt nice and shiny- i will be back for it lol(correction Sneaky has my belt now same rule applies keep it shiny ;-).

Reading list, i just read a Frank Sinatra bio, i never realized how deep into the mob that guy was. Also read 100 years 100 stories by George Burns, Book 1 of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Also finished a book called The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn about the Brooklyn Dodgers of the 1950's. All very good reads , i hope some of you get the chance to read any of them.Next on the list I am about to start a Terry Brooks fantasy series and a book called Overload by Arthur Hailey.

One of my favorite authors passed away recently , he wrote the Wheel of Time series under the pen name Robert Jordan. That series is where i picked up the screen name of Perrin.

On the Mixed Martial Arts front , the Ultimate Fighter reality series on Spike is in full swing, this season focuses on welterweights and if you like combat sports you will love UFC.

Damn its good to be in a very active league, holding the #1 title belt with a 22 game streak going! The league is kicking ass and i have, counting myself, 10 td's with Redberry returning by Oct 5th. We have great players and as of 730 tonight we had done 92 matches today. Pretty damn good for a Tuesday Without a great staff and SneakyPete68 (shes a girl lol) helping on admin it couldnt be done. Thanks to them we have one hell of a good league going.

I miss seeing some of the people from Holye like my pard Hollypeenyo (The Spicy One) and i hope some of them come over and join the competition.

The League , Wordsteal and Rescue Me

www.myleague.com/wordsteal has gotten back into the groove with tourneys , we have 101 members now with 51 active in the last 3 weeks and we will break the 3000 matches played mark by this weekend. Not bad for an old school style wordox format. And Cleo.... that guns-n-roses wannabe even has the gall to use axl-rose as a screen name, i feel sorry for him if you ever get your hands on him lol .

Now Rescue Me.... the show wasnt as good to me this season , sure it had its fuuny points like when Lou tried to fight his cousin after he caught him screwing his (Lou's) ex-nun girlfriend but they really watered down the Tommy Gavin character i thought. He babbled way too much when confronted as was way too much of a puss. I hope Leary writes Tommy some balls back in to the character next season.

Just another Poser

Yeah its the internet, a grand place for any peckerhead with a keyboard and a connection to talk shit about whatever comes to mind. I know what you are thinking lol so kiss my ass :P Anyway , on the internet a game lobby is a public place and if you are going to talk smack about a person and do it where everyone can read it please try and have the balls to say your little piece when the person you are trying to run down is in the lobby to return fire.
For the readers that are now wondering what the hell im talking about sit back and read on, i will clue you in. Paul/Gunsnroses/Paradicecity/50 other jerkass names set a table and asked for nonwimps to play. Being the nonwimp that i am i joined his table. Being the jabroni he is he left watchers open. 2 or 3 players decided to watch and when i made a couple of steals they said wd or vn. He started crying about fanclubs etc (i noticed that he watches any number of games) and went on to lose the game and then he continued his little rant in the lobby. I told him i would gladly play with watchers closed at any time then left to host a tourney. After i left he decided to make nasty comments about league players and me etc. I know this because players sent me screenshots. Thanks Yall :-)
Anyway , since this is the internet i cant very well go punch him in the nose, lucky for him. I already beat him in the game no matter what his lame ass excuses are ( i keep watchers closed so i dont have that convenient excuse when i lose) but i would be glad to whip his ass again in the game or in a tourney if i thought it would shut him up.
I know he is a good player but his posturing and grandstanding in the lobby hasnt impressed anyone that i have talked to yet. He is just another poser !!

Im Back

Wow its been awhile since i posted, the cobwebs are thick around here..... The league action has been spotty, Thanks to mummy sneaky melisca and greasegravy , they have been keeping things going while i have been working my ass off. We finally hired a supervisor to replace the one we fired , i train her this week and the overtime is finished. I will be able to devote time to the league business after that , and hopefully kick some wordsteal ass. Mixed Martial Arts

The fastest growing sport in the world , eclipsing boxing in pay per view dollars , and i cant get enough of it. Lucky for me there is plenty of fight coverage on TV now along with behind the scenes shows, reality shows and the.history of martial arts. Check out VS network for the freaks that own TAPOUT, and the WEC which was recently purchased by the owners of ULTIMATE FIGHTING , The History Channel for a cool look at different disciplines, and Spike TV for UFC and World Combat League which is owned by Chuck Norris. BoDog Fight is pretty good too. Personal favorite fighters of mine in different weight classes are Randy Couture , Chuck Lidell, Matt Hughes , Urijah Faber, and Andre Arlovski. Its a brutal sport but now considered safer than boxing because of the rules and safeguards. Sunday night on VS there is a live card featuring at least 1 title fight. Grab a bottle of whiskey , kick back and enjoy ;-)
