Thats some pretty funny commentary on my last post there. Live and die by my stats? Take the fun out of wordox? Wordox is already no fun? Sounds like a case of sour grapes to me Chet. Are you mad because you got beaten by a better player ? Are you mad because you are a social room 1 reject that tried to take refuge in a league where players compete for stats and got whipped again ? Reminds me of a few years ago a player got mad at me and called me a shark because i beat her pretty badly in a tourney. I was supposed to take it easy on her because she wasnt as good a player. She didnt want to try to learn from her mistakes or learn new words and improve her strategy but she did piss and moan because i do take the time for all of that. Why? you ask do i take that time? Because i like to play in LEAGUES where people COMPETE and i like to WIN because winning is FUN and losing SUCKS. Does that make me a stats whore? I dont know and dont care beat me if you can :P

One other thing , the comments havent been coming to my email like they should. If they had i would have removed the first one. Are people ashamed to sign their names? Who are you afraid of?

Election ,Ladder - Etc

I dont vote in presidential elections or primaries. My father in law was bragging about Bush and how much cash he has given away for AIDS in Africa etc.... I told him that was one of the main reasons i do not vote. If there comes a candidate who would base his platform on cutting out foreign aid and spending that money in the USA on our legal citizens , programs and infrastructure i would really get involved. That said im done with election crap ;-)

The wordsteal ladder is over 16,000 games played since i started it ..... not bad for a league that "they" said would fold in a month or 2. Tourneys keep on trucking and many more players are doing laddergames. Interleague @ hoyle is moving to Fridays starting march 21. Should be interesting. I had hoped to see it stay on Sats because Friday is more of a family night for me but i wasnt getting in there much anyway or anywhere else at hoyle for that matter. My straight options tourney at 7 pm est is back for the forseeable future , everyone come check us out....

Debunking the Myths

In the past couple of weeks players have mentioned to me that some of the posers in the rated room and a few other players have weird ideas about how a ladder works. First rumor i heard was that if you beat someone rated lower than you you lose rank. Bullshit!! Take the time to read how the ladder works, its all there in the rules. You gain rank by beating people in tourneys and laddermatches. You drop in rank by being beaten by someone ranked directly below you , or by people passing you thru tourney wins or laddermatch wins. Also being inactive will drop you in rank. You want laddermatches come to the room or hook up on our yahoo network and most players will play ya. Play them between tourneys or anytime u want. cya at the tables!!

Our new Td & stuff

We have a new TD , welcome aboard Wenchie :-) We are glad to have you with us! That one was an ultra maroon lmao. TOC for January runs tomorrow hope the qualifiers get in and play! Tourneys and stuff

We are doing pretty well about having a regular 7pm Straight Steal tourney. The TOC is Sunday Feb 7 at 2 pm est. If you are qualified you should have the invite by now.

Lmao at the people who thought i was singling them out about stacking. Is stacking the guilty pleasure of wordox? The ones who do it turn after turn after damn turn should feel guilty lol. I promise you that if you try to expand your strategetic horizons you will notice a difference in your win-loss record.

More Stacking

My last post wasnt really meant to single anyone out, I wanted to make the point that depending solely on stacking as an attack plan is not the way to consistently win games. Sure , there is a time and place for stacking. There are ways to employ it as part of your strategy, including the now famous term coined by my partner Hollypeenyo --- Ghetto Stacking which is what you do when you are way behind and pulling out all the stops in hopes of a victory. What I wanted to get across was that you shouldnt let stacking dominate your game to the exclusion of any other strategy. Cya at the tables

Rescue Me ...... Stackers

I recently read that Rescue Me has been picked up for a 5th season. Due to the writers strike however production is at a standstill. I hope that if the writers get what they are after they put out a better product for the 5th. Season 4 kinda sucked.

Chronic Stackers.... love em, hate em , gotta deal with them. Cmon people, If you know decent words try to use them. Its not necessary to stack every play. I played one person recently that had opportunity to play on 1 of my tiles in 3 or 4 places for decent long words but the player had no place to stack on anything I had played. Instead of taking one of my tiles and playing the decent word this player opted to stack on their own word. WTF???? In another game with a totally different player the same damn thing happened. I wanted to laugh and at the same time i wanted to smash my monitor. Stacking isnt bad when its used right but damn try a few regular words too. I have seen players ignore an er or ed steal for 6 or 7 points to stack instead and leave the er or the ed in the rack. What the hell is that about ???? Pay attention to the game. Sure stacking every play will win you a game against an average player quite often but against better players you should try to think the strategy before you play. Ok enough of that catch ya at the tables.

NovelWoman

I got word yesterday that longtime Hoyle wordoxer NovelWoman passed away yesterday. She had an inoperable brain tumor. Many of you may not know her but when i started playing at hoyle many years ago she was very nice to me and any new player that came in. She will be missed , my condolences to her family. Thanks Rick for sending me the update i know she was your good friend also.

Spyware

Got up saturday morning very early intending to play steal and ox all day. Much to my surprise i kept getting weird popup ads about security and my desktop background had been taken over by a security warning. I ran adaware , spybot, antivrus and a few other cleanup programs but nothing would remove it. The spyware had names like smitfraud, virtumonde and outerinfo.

After running those removal programs all morning i got fed up, dug thru my junk til i found my restore CD's and wiped everything and reformatted back to the settings the pc had when i got it. That was more fun than you can imagine. It took the rest of the day Saturday and a good chunk of today to get the PC back to where i wanted it. On the bright side it runs quite a bit faster.

Things are going great at the steal league. New players come in every week and some old timers too. Glad to see them all. Check every day for tourneys they wont always be on the front page.

Well i see that Monkey boy and his little dogs made it in to a couple of tourneys last night. I hope someone cleaned the monkey poop off of the walls and the skank fluids off of the floor before they gave the room back . Probably no way to get rid of the smell tho.

Reminders.... I am trying most nights to host straight steal at seven pm. Wordsteal ladder room. Hope you can all join us. Synergy league at hoyle has tourneys most nights at 11 and midnight for the late owls. Wish i could be there but i leave the house for work about 4-430 am for work and being that i am old i need my sleep.

Today a former league member came in to steal ladder room and proceeded to bitch about the removal of a td about a week ago. This player also was giving a current td a hard time in the rated room. He demanded an explanation. The more i think about this the more it pisses me off. You dont go to any league admin anywhere and demand a damn thing if you arent on their ladder . Even then you might try asking nicely. Its really none of your effin business what a myleague does or doesnt do. If another leagues admins want to exchange info , hey thats cool. If you are a friend and want the downlow ,hey thats cool. Anyone else can bugger off :-)

A few resolutions and the 2007 Big Balls Awards

Happy New Year to anyone that reads this blog and those who might accidentally stumble over it while surfing. Last year was a decent year, i did a lot of great fishing and camping with my daughter and wife , got drunk and started a league at wordsteal one night , and did some other crazy stuff that doesnt need to be gone over lol. For 2008 i just have a few resolutions...

1. Cut down on the drinking binges on the weekends if for no other reason my health.

2. Become a better player. while that is fresh in your mind let me just say that no matter who you are and how good you are sometimes the tile fairy is going to take a dump on you and there isnt anything you can do about it ;-)

3. Get more exercise... again health

4. Coninue finding new and fun things and places to share with C.J. and Cyndi.

Now that thats out of the way lets move on to the awards. Before i start though let me say that if anyone wants to add to the list email me and i will give it front page attention.

Admin of the year...... TheMummykins at Interleague. Mummy is crapped on week in and week out by T.D.s and leagues that are supposed to be supporting her yet she continues to persevere and keep Interleague going. If the people that arent supporting her but should be are offended by that, good!! Mummy ya got balls!!

T.D. of the year....... Lainy at FSW in the hoyle cases ladder room. Wow This lady is the IronTD of wordox, she is at this writing only 7 tourneys away from # 2500 personally hosted by her!! Can we get a Holy Shit chant going for Lainy??? WTG Lainy!! you got balls!!

Player of the year..... Me!! Kes/Perrin After thinking a lot on this one im gonna toot my own horn , toot toot. Wherever i go to play, whichever of the 2 names i use, i come to win. I will ladder with anyone that asks or anyone who knocks on the door whatever room im in and i dont back down from man or machine. Wtg me !! I got balls!! (save the sarcastic comments for someone who cares :-) lol i don't)

Most improved player/s of the year. I have to give props to 2 players this year , First is Just_Fancy aka Pammiek . She has cranked out multiple wins on me, Dorcas and Wordman this year and i dont care what anyone else says she has come a long way. Sharing this award with her is Debbers at wordsteal , she is new to the game but she gives it her best every time, In 2008 i expect to see her crack the top10 at steal. Wtg PammieK and Debbers ya both got balls!!

Best new TD/s... Redberry SneakyPete Bambiella and OxtailSoup. You ladies have taken to tding like wildfire, i appreciate everything you 4 have done to make our league grow , and all the tourneys you have hosted. WTG , all 4 of ya got balls!!

Now for a little fun

The His Bark is worse than his Bite award goes to OldShep.... After the few email communications we had I understand shep a little better. He is like most players , he comes in to relax and get away from stress. Wtg Shep, ya got balls!!

The Failure to Communicate/CoolHandLuke Award goes to Wordman50. After his clash at Extremeox and his initial post in response to his critics he decided to let the rest go drop the matter and ignore his detractors . Wtg Richard , ya got balls!!

RudeSkank of the year award goes to Ceedie. Normally i wouldnt concern myself about this but... When a td takes time out of their personal life to host a tourney, if you join that tourney and the TD puts aside personal differences and congratulates you on individual wins and on winning the tourney if you do, the least a player could do if he/ she is gonna skank up my tourney is thank me for hosting. My opinion of course may not be everyones but im the writer here so its what you get.... WTG Ceedie you smell like balls.

Once again if anyone has anything they want to add to this like categories they want to award on or resolutions they have or award categories they want me to comment on just shoot me an email, i will post just about anything for anyone.

As for me and i speak only for me here , I truly do not mind losing to what you call a lesser player. I find that in most cases it ramps up their confidence, usually (hopefully) they are thinking Hey!! i beat this s.ob. once i can do it again. That makes it a more competitive game and a better experience for both of us. However i do hate like hell to lose to players that are my equal or better skillwise such as Wordman ,Dorcas etc and there are quite a few in the etc category. Thats just my competitive nature kicking in. Ok Moving on......

I hate to disagree with you Shep but i think you had a beef about playing me that evening admit it or not. Otherwise why would you not go ahead and play me and take up the situation later with a td manager or ladder op instead of letting me take the moral high road by giving you a free win? Instead you bullied the td . How you ask ? You knew it was too late for her to change the pairs yet you caused a scene in the lobby , refused to play the match and threatened to report her if she posted the win to me. I hope you felt good about it.

Now for the last bit "By the way, as an aside to your little remark about thumping my fat head ........ I didn't get to do CP work with the Dubai Royal Family for 3 years by not being able to look after myself :o)))) " Great !! If i ever meet you i wont feel bad about thumping you ;-)
