I have a little issue that I want to bring up about interleauge. It's obviously a 'once a week'
league so dropping ladder ranks for inactivity doesn't happen after a few days like it does in
other leagues. That makes sense, fine. BUT... what fun is interleague or playing on a ladder if the person who gets #1 selectively plays so that they can retain #1 and no one else even gets a chance at it? Even though we all only play there on Saturdays, the #1 spot has an obligation to PLAY or give up the spot if they are not able to be there on Saturday to play. They need to play the other top 10 players just like any other ladder. It's in the rules. That is the purpose of a ladder. At the very least, whoever holds the #1 and #2 should play each Saturday. Obviously it's not mandatory that people BE here on Saturdays, but if the #1 and #2 people ARE here on a Saturday? They should be playing ladder matches for the #1 spot.To only join certain tourneys that have certain players in them (or certain players NOT in them) and to only play ladder with certain people is ladder manipulation, pure and simple. What good is having a league with a ladder if the rungs never change and there is no way TO change rungs because the person holding the #1 spot stays in the room and watches all day? If you can't play or can't join a T because you will have to go before it's over... then GO! Don't sit in the room while everyone else in the league plays all day and all other ladder spots are exchanged, up and down, back and forth except for the #1 spot that is being held by a "non-player". Joining a tourney once in a blue moon that happens to have a great player or a few great players in that are too far down on the ladder to get #1 if they won, does not count, either. Or, joining a tourney only after a comment is made does not negate the fact that in general, the #1 spot is not up for grabs. I think that type of behavior is just as deserving of a punishment than the other incident in interleague last Saturday (actually more so), but for some reason, it gets overlooked week after week. How long is it going to be allowed to go on? I, for one, am getting sick of it. I don't care to be #1 in there or any league. It's pressure that I don't want or need and it kills me how people come out of the woodwork to play you all of a sudden. But, if I do happen to get to #1 in Synergy, I don't keep it long... because I play... all the time, no matter what rank or rating I am. That is how a ladder should work. If not, then the ladder is NOT working and something needs to be done to fix it. My 2 cents and MY opinion, after a very long and irritating day (once again) in interleague.
LMAO Leave it to my partner to find a way to annoy others from inside the penalty box. Caw on, you magnificent bastard. Gripes about Interleague? Besides the simian malignancy? Hmmm....I really hate the color of the drapes in the Experts Room.
Just a comment to answer Nanc - the challenge system is there to address this problem. I know it rarely gets used but it is a way to get the top players to play.
And to Holly the drapes should be blue to match our seat of course!!
You are right, mummy. But, who would have thought we'd have to utilize the challenge system in interleauge? The person that gets the #1 spot already gets to keep it for a whole week without having to play; you'd think that would be enough for most. To have to use the challenge system in interleague to challenge someone who is sitting in the room all day anyway doesn't make sense.
